Horizon’s Edge puts your office’s maps on your phone for work in the woods: georeferenced PDF maps that show where you are, offline. Drop points, draw lines and areas, record tracks, add photos, see the Forest Service’s legal roads, and export what you drew.
Getting a code
You sign in with a code from your office; there is no sign-up in the app. Ask the person who runs Horizon’s Edge for your crew. JW Bamford crews ask Nathan at the office. A code works once, on one phone, and runs out after a set number of days, so use it soon.
Common questions
- My code does not work. It may be used or run out. Ask for a new one.
- The app says it is locked. It keeps working 10 days without signal, then needs to reach the office once. Open it where you have signal.
- I got a new phone. Ask for a new code. What you drew comes back once you sign in.
- I do not want my crew to see me. Settings, Crew, turn off Share my position with my crew.
